Brantford Expositor: Junior Green Eagles Force Game 3 Showdown

The St. John's College Green Eagles would not be denied this time.

After a dominant performance that produced a one-point loss in Game 1 of the Brant County junior girls basketball final, they bounced back with a 41-33 win over the North Park Collegiate Trojans Thursday on the road.

"We are ecstatic to get this win," Lauren deMontmorency said. "We came into this game with a mindset that we had to win and we had to do this for our school. This was huge for us."

The Green Eagles came out flying, mounting a 13-3 lead after one quarter and increased it to 18-5 by the half.

"We were excited at half that we were up like that but we wanted to come out with the right mindset," deMontmorency said.

"We wanted to come out thinking it was 0-0, just like at the beginning. We knew we were doing a lot of things right but we all knew we couldn't get ahead of ourselves."

And because of that mindset, the Green Eagles were able to fend off an almost epic comeback from the previously undefeated Trojans.

"There were no doubts at all," deMontmorency said. "We have so much faith in each other and have so much trust. We have an unbelievable team and I'm glad we were able to show that tonight.

"We had to slow down the game and run our offence. We didn't want to let the game take control of us," she said.

But it almost did.

Up by as much as 17, the Trojans got within five points with 1:47 left in the game. But a Rebecca Mckinnon basket, followed by a pair of free throws moments later, put the game out of reach for the Green Eagles.

"We were saying we just have to stay positive," deMontmorency said of a key timeout during the Trojans' surge.

"We knew we had this. If we work hard we'll get the win."

The win ties the best-of-three final series 1-1 and sets up a third and deciding game Monday at 5:30 p.m. at North Park.

"We just have to come out with the same kind of confidence we had tonight and all season," 
deMontmorency said. "It was the exact same kind of game except this time we were able to get the win. (Monday) We have to make sure we keep our heads up and play Eagles basketball."

For the Trojans, it was a tough loss.

"It was a tough game," Gabrielle Marton said. "We worked really hard but we didn't come out our best at the beginning. I think if we started a little stronger the score would've been much different."

Marton said the game plan is simple for Game 3.

"Play like we did in the second half," Marton said. "It was great to come back. It'll give us some confidence heading into Monday. We just have to do that earlier."

Brantford Expositor: Senior Trojans Qualify For CWOSSA

The North Park Collegiate Trojans punched their ticket to the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association AAA senior girls tournament.

The Trojans were powered by a 15-point performance by Allyson Delorenzi and 14 from Jessica Grant en route to a 47-38 win over the Brantford Collegiate Institute Mustangs Thursday.

With the win, the Trojans earn a spot in the CWOSSA championships next week at NPC.

Though the Mustangs lost, they get another chance to earn a spot when they play Elmira District Secondary School next week in Elmira.

NPC: Allyson Delorenzi 15, Jessica Grant 14, Abbey Sayles 9, Abbey Johnston 5, Natasha Linnington 2.

BCI: Summer Sakaluk 14, Rachel Adkins 11, Cara Humenik 4, Bailey Vachon 4, Brooke Newsome 2.

Senior Boys: Pinky Lewis Tournament This Weekend

Two CWOSSA teams that are expected to be among the "upper echelon" in the WCSSAA league will be competing this weekend in Hamilton at the Pinky Lewis Invitational (November 9th - 11th).

The tournament is a massive 32-team affair, split into 8 pools of 4 teams each.

Kitchener Cameron Heights and Cambridge Galt CI are the CWOSSA representatives; Cameron Heights will be in a pool with Georgetown, Parkside and Brebeuf while the Ghosts will be competing with Holy Cross (St. Catherines), Hamilton Sherwood and last year's OFSAA "AAA" silver medalists (and SBCSS Tournament Champs), Burlington Notre Dame.

D10: Semifinal Picks

It's semifinal Thursday in the D10 league, and the top 4 teams in both the junior and senior divisions have all advanced through safely after Tuesday's action.

On the senior side, #1 Bishop Mac will host #4 JF Ross, while #2 Lourdes takes to the court against #3 St. James.

Let's start with the BMAC-JFR game, where I expect the Celtics to prevail in that one.  The Celts took out the Royals in their two league games by 14 and 26 points respectively, and though I expect something again in the double-digit range, I'll go with the Celtics by 12.  Obviously, Bishop Mac mustn't overlook the Royals in advance of a possible "all-AA" matchup with (possibly) Lourdes for the D10 title and "AA" CWOSSA berth.

Lourdes and St. James is the 2-3 match-up and is widely expected to be a very competitive game, especially after the Lions fell in a close 65-62 game last week.  I'll still stick with Lourdes here by 6, but the Lions have been playing very well as of late.

D8 Semifinal Results: Phoenix Claim CWOSSA Junior Berth

The D8 finals are now set to go tomorrow evening at Resurrection.

The Resurrection Phoenix, the top-seeded team in both the D8 junior and senior leagues, advanced in both divisions by posting comfortable wins on Wednesday afternoon.

In fact, the junior Phoenix were all over #4 St. Mary's, jumping out to a 24-0 lead before the Eagles were able to crack the goose egg.  RCSS led 30-3 at halftime before cruising to a 57-12 win.

Celia McGlynn (20), Shannon Walls (6) and Patricia Enrique (6) led the way for Resurrection, while Brittany Gulic, Sara Jankovic and Becca Siewert split the 12 Eagle points with 4 apiece.

Resurrection's seniors got past St. Benedict 46-30.  

Sarah Schulz netted 22 to lead the way, while Angelika Jarski added 8.  Hilary Ferguson (15) and Dana Milani (8) were the top St. Benedict performers on Wednesday.

The other senior game saw St. Mary's handle Woodland Christian by a 36-17 final.  Beth Zabib led the Eagles with 8, while Rebekah Oosterhof had 7 for the Cavs.

Meanwhile, back in junior, the other of D8's semifinal games was apparently not without controversy.

The St. Benedict Saints (#2) seed were upset by the #3 St. David Celtics in a 44-43 thriller.  According to reports on Twitter, the Saints were shorted two points on the scoreboard as the scoresheet (45-44 SBCSS) did not match-up with the posted score.

Regardless, the Celtics will advance and face the Phoenix in Friday's final.  The elimination of the Saints also clinched an "AAAA" CWOSSA berth for Resurrection.  Here's a look at the D8 finals schedule:

Friday:  D8 Finals
Resurrection will play host to the 2012 D8 finals, which will get underway at 6pm with the junior contest between Resurrection and St. David.  Both of those schools will also be advancing to CWOSSA (RCSS - AAAA; SDCSS - AAA).

In senior, the D8 title and AAAA CWOSSA berth will be decided between the top two teams in the D8 league, Resurrection and St. Mary's.  That game should get underway around 8pm.

Brantford Expositor: Senior Green Eagles Edge Lions in Opener

Heading into the Brant County senior girls basketball final, anyone following the loop knew the best-of-three series between the St. John's College Green Eagles and Assumption College Lions would be a physical, take-no-prisoners battle.

Well, if Game 1 on Tuesday was an indication, that's the best way to describe it.

On the heels of a three-point shooting clinic from Megan Thompson in the second half, Grade 9 star Kendra VanLeeuwen's free throw with 15.9 seconds remaining gave the Green Eagles a 44-43 win in a fourth quarter that resembled roller derby at times.

"We're so excited. It's really intense and your heart's just racing the whole time," Thompson said. "You're just trying to do your best to not make a mistake. It's one of those things where you don't want to make the mistake but they'd just happen. But we recovered and were able to work harder than everyone else out there, and I think that was the difference."

After the Lions held on to a 21-19 halftime lead, Thompson was the catalyst behind a 15-point third quarter, hitting a pair of three-pointers, while Bridget Monkman added another after trailing by as many as seven.

"It wasn't something we talked about," Thompson said. "It was just one of those things that happened because we were open and it worked out. We were just taking advantage of the opportunities we had."

And even when the Lions would counterpunch with Emily Gill's brilliant performance, they still managed to hold on.

"I think we were all panicking inside but tried to keep calm so we could execute our plays the way they are supposed to and play the game as we do in practice," Thompson said." (In the fourth quarter) We were just really encouraging on the bench and we didn't want to get down if we made a mistake. We were just keeping each other's spirits up."

While the Green Eagles were happy to escape with the win, the Lions couldn't believe they let the game slip away, especially after missing three point-blank shots late in the game.

"It's definitely not what we wanted to have happen," Gill said. "The last 10 seconds just went by so fast. It was a real scramble.

"I'm just so proud of the team playing right to the end," she said. "That's exactly how we wanted to play. We're in it to win it. This is our year. I just can't believe that ending."

Despite the loss, Gill said she and her teammates realize it's a three-game series and it's not over yet.

"Thursday is the day," she said. "We're going to come out stronger than ever. This is just the beginning. We're not going home."

Game 2 of the series is Thursday at North Park Collegiate at 7 p.m.

Brantford Expositor: Three-Pointer Lifts Junior Trojans to Win

It's a shot Sarah Minutillo will probably remember for quite a while.

With the North Park Collegiate Trojans down by a pair with time dwindling and the St. John's College Green Eagles looking poised to take Game 1 of the Brant County junior girls basketball final, Minutillo saved her team's undefeated season in dramatic style.

Her three-pointer from the corner with 36 seconds remaining, gave the Trojans a 39-38 win and, most important, put them one win away from dethroning the defending champs.

"I was just hoping that would go in," Minutillo said. "I've been really consistent with my shots and I was thinking it would go in.

"It was just about getting open and finding the open man," she said. "I was thinking I might as well take it because it was open. I'm so glad it went in."

Minutillo's three-pointer capped a thrilling come-from-behind win that saw the Green Eagles lead most of the way. The Trojans led 12-7 after one quarter and 18-13 at the half before the Trojans were able to make some traction with there solid interior defence.

"They just told us to bring our game up," Minutillo said about the coach's halftime speech.

"We had to look to score, which was something we weren't doing in the first half. We started doing that and capitalizing on their mistakes."

And capitalizing on the Green Eagles' mistakes was how they finally took the lead with 5:18 left to play.
"We just didn't want it (being behind) to affect us," Minutillo said.

"We didn't want to crack under pressure. All we needed to do was take what was given to us and make the best of it."

Halle Sitarski and Gabrielle Marton led the second half comeback.

Sitarski led the third quarter surge with six of her 12 points, while Marton added five of her nine second half points in the fourth.

"This was such a great team effort," Sitarski said. "We did a lot of team building the last couple of days to get us ready for this. Games like this are a lot of fun and I'm just glad we won it."

Though the Green Eagles lost the game, Alex Girardi said there's nothing to be ashamed about.

"I know we worked our butts off and we'll be coming for them on Thursday," Girardi said.

"We thought we had that one in the bag. We played great as a team so we just have to keep going.
"We're totally good with how we played," she said.

"Even though we lost it was a great game. This was probably the best game we've played and to lose by only one point I'm fine with that."

Game 2 of the series is back at North Park Collegiate Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

D10 Quarterfinals: No Surprises As Top Seeds Advance

Despite the potential for an upset (especially in the 4/5 and 3/6 games), the home teams "held serve" on Tuesday afternoon in the District 10 Quarterfinals.

In senior, all of the games were decided by comfortable margins, with the 4/5 game between JF Ross and Centre Wellington being the closest in a 46-32 JF Ross win. 

Looked like Sydney Resch was back in the Ross lineup as she chipped in 9 points alongside Julia Robertson's game high 13.  Teddi Taran added 9 more for JFR, while Hailey Salvian (11) and Kristen Gora (8) topped the scoresheet for CW.

#3 St. James advanced to the semifinals and AAA CWOSSA after a 51-34 home win over Guelph CVI.  Brittany (20) and Chelsey Gazzola (17) led the way for St. James, while Jamie Young (11) and Hanna Chidwick (9) led the Gaels.

Lourdes (#2) handled Centennial (#7) by a comfortable 64-36 margin.  Charlotte Case notched 16 and Monica Trimble 15 in the win, while Kendra Achonwa, Hannah Ferguson and Hannah Newman had 9 each for the Spartans.

As expected, #1 Bishop Mac topped #8 Orangeville 43-23.  Rebecca Morris (12), Sabrina Gazzola (6) and Kaitlyn Phillips (6) led the way there, while Claire Fenton netted 12 for ODSS.

Senior Semifinals & CWOSSA Qualification
Senior semifinals will go on Thursday afternoon, at the higher-seeded finisher.  As such, JF Ross will travel to Bishop Mac while Lourdes will host St. James.

In terms of CWOSSA qualifying, yesterday's results advanced JF Ross (AAAA) and St. James (AAA) through to their respective CWOSSA championships.  Bishop Mac or Lourdes will take the AA berth.

Centre Wellington (D10 #2) will play Waterloo-Oxford (WCSSAA #3) for another CWOSSA AAAA berth. 

Junior
A thriller at Centennial in the 4-5 game as #4 Centennial held off a late (#5) JF Ross charge to escape with a 43-40 win.

Emma Cain netted 21 in the win for the Spartans, while Emma Korol added 10.  Maddy Darling poured in 19 for Ross, with Candice Geisel adding 16.

Junior Semifinals & CWOSSA Qualification
On Thursday, Guelph CVI (#1) will host (#4) Centennial while #2 Bishop Mac will host #3 St. James.

As for CWOSSA qualification, Bishop Mac (AA) and Centennial (AAAA) have secured CWOSSA berths, while the AAA berth will go to the higher finisher (St. James or Guelph CVI).

JF Ross (D10 #2 AAAA) will advance to a play-in game for a CWOSSA berth against Waterloo SJAM (WCSSAA #3 AAAA).   

WCSSAA Senior QFs: Sabres, Hawks Advance to All-Cambridge Semifinal

I'll be looking forward to the "rubber match".

After Jacob Hespeler won a contested league game at home, and the Sabres took their revenge at a home tournament last month, the two Cambridge schools will be meeting up once again --- this time in the WCSSAA semifinals at Cameron Heights on Saturday evening.

Southwood, who were the #6 seed in the playoffs, provided the most surprising result of the evening by defeating Waterloo-Oxford on the road in a 43-35 game.  The Sabres stifled WODSS on the offensive end last night (by comparison, they gave up nearly 60 to the Crusaders in their league contest).  

Nicole Barnard --- who I think is deserving of first-team WCSSAA all-star consideration --- lead the way with 20 points, while Cali Doran added 11 for Southwood.  Maddy Horst put home over half of the Crusaders total with 18.

#5 Bluevale, who dropped a league contest to #4 Cameron Heights last week that cost them a first-round bye (and a home quarterfinal game) got even yesterday and then some, eliminating the Gaels in a 39-38 thriller.

Cameron Heights missed a shot with :05 on the clock that would have given them the lead.

Sarah Hamm (14) and Kailee Sawyer (10) both had double-digit efforts for Bluevale, while Hunter Johns (14) and Liz McLellan (13) topped the CHCI scoring.

Jacob Hespeler (#2) doubled-up #7 Elmira 50-25 in Cambridge.  You can read more on that one in Mark Bryson's Record Article today.  Looks like all-star PG Taylor Dennis saw some limited action in that one for the Hawks, which was her first playing time of the year as she returns from injury.

Brooklynn Wright had 16 for JHSS, while Krista Wiens led Elmira with 9.

Lastly, #1 WCI powered past #9 Grand River 73-33.  Lindsay Taylor had 19 and Kailee Anagnostopoulos 16 for the Vikes, while Leticia Skeete netted 15 and Kailey DeBoer 14 for Grand River.

Semifinal Saturday
All games will be at Cameron Heights, and will get started after the junior semifinals.  WCI (#1) and Bluevale (#5) will play first, with an approximate tip-time of 5:30pm.

The all-Cambridge affair between Jacob Hespeler and Southwood will go afterwards at 7:00pm.

CWOSSA Qualification
Like the junior ranks, things are mostly sorted out for the seniors too.

WCI and Bluevale have officially qualified for AAAA CWOSSA.

Waterloo-Oxford will play Centre Wellington (D10 #2) for another AAAA berth.

Over in AAA, Jacob Hespeler and Southwood are through to the semifinals while Elmira will battle Brantford CI (D5 #2) for another CWOSSA spot.

WCSSAA Junior: Top Seeds Advance to Semifinal Saturday

The top seeds advanced as expected on Tuesday in WCSSAA junior girls' quarterfinal action.

In fact, none of the games were really in doubt, as all were 15+ spreads at the final buzzer.

The closest game saw the #2 WCI Vikings (who had not played a league game since October 25th) shake off some early rust and defeat #7 Jacob Hespeler by a 34-19 final.  The Vikes only lead 18-14 at halftime, but outscored Jacob Hespeler 17-5 in the second half for the final margin.

Kaitlyn Bentz, Olivia Bender and Jess Roes all had 9 apiece for WCI, while Shianne Riggan and Jasmine Ramcharan netted 6 each for the Hawks.

Meanwhile, the top-ranked team in WCSSAA (and in my CWOSSA rankings), Grand River, had no trouble advancing to the semis with a 60-33 win over #8 Cameron Heights.

Nyamuoch Teny (15) and Tara Deboer (14) paced the Rens on Tuesday, while Nina Farkic had 9 for Cameron.

The #3-seed KCI Raiders doubled-up #6 Bluevale by a 36-18 final.  Thea Taylor (8) and Alia Hazineh (7) paced a balanced KCI attack, while Megan Reid had 9 and Maddy Fielding 3 for Bluevale.

Lastly, Elmira (#4) took out SJAM (#5) by a 43-26 final.  Nicole Cressman (15), Sydney Jones (12) and Kelsie Freeman (12) were all in double-figures for EDSS, while Milica Koprivica (12) and Nicole Treciokas (6) were the top 'Lander scorers.

Semifinal Saturday
WCSSAA's semifinals will take place on Saturday at Cameron Heights.

At 2:30pm, #1 Grand River will play #4 Elmira, while #2 WCI will take on #3 KCI in the second of the two semifinals.

All four of the above teams have advanced to CWOSSA, which is detailed below.....

CWOSSA Qualification
WCSSAA will receive 2 guaranteed qualifiers in AAA & AAAA, while the "WCSSAA #3" teams in AAA & AAAA will play in a "play-in game" for another berth.

As such, Grand River and WCI have officially qualified for AAAA CWOSSA, while KCI and Elmira will represent their schools at AAA CWOSSA.

Jacob Hespeler (AAA #3) will advance to a qualifying game against Orangeville Westside.

SJAM (AAAA #3) will advance to a qualifying game against Guelph JF Ross (D10 #2).

BAA: Playoff Results - Tuesday

Two "quarterfinals" to talk about from BAA action yesterday; on the senior side, St. Mary's got a huge 34-point effort from Katie Langdon and took out Peninsula Shores (Kendra Schultz, 5) by a 46-22 final.

On the junior side, OSCVI was victorious by a comfortable 52-35 score over fellow Owen Sound school, St. Mary's.

This sets up Friday's "BAA Final Four" as follows:

D10 Quarterfinal Picks

You don't usually see too many upsets in the quarterfinal stage of the D10 playoffs, given that it's an 8-team league.  As such, you generally get a couple of mis-matches in the #1 vs. #8 games and #2 vs. #7 games, although there's a reason why they play these games.  Let's take a look, starting in senior:

(1) Bishop Mac vs. (8) Orangeville
Season Series:  BMAC 2-0
My Pick:  BMAC by 31
Despite finishing last, the Orangeville Bears had a successful season, picking up 2 league wins (their first wins since the 2008 season).  However, no #8 team has defeated a #1 seed and I don't see that changing here.

(2) Lourdes vs. (7) Centennial
Season Series:  OLOL 2-0
My Pick:  OLOL by 16
The Spartans have been playing well as of late, even knocking off #4 seeded JF Ross last week.  Lourdes can't take the Spartans lightly, but I think they'll still pick up a double-digit win at home.

(3) St. James vs. (6) Guelph CVI
Season Series:  STJ 2-0
My Pick:  STJ by 9
This game is for an "AAA" CWOSSA berth, so it should be a highly contested berth.  Both teams have been playing well as of late, and, despite the seeding, they battled to a 2-point difference about two weeks ago.  I'll go with the Lions at home, but keep an eye on this one.

(4) JF Ross vs. (5) CWDHS
Season Series:  JFR 2-0
My Pick:  JFR by 7
Between injuries and inconsistency, the Royals struggled down the stretch, dropping their final two league games and finishing in 4th place.  They're still at home for this game, but the stakes are ramped up as this game should also determine a CWOSSA "AAAA" qualifier (unless CCVI or ODSS can spring a big upset).  I'll go with Ross but wouldn't be surprised to see CW win here.

My Pick:  GCVI by 25

WCSSAA Picks: Senior Quarterfinal Edition

The favourites generally advanced as expected last Thursday, with #9 Grand River being the lone "lower seeded" team to advance through on the road.

That sets up today's games, which are all 3:30pm starts, except for the Grand River - WCI tilt which will go after the junior contest (5:00pm).

(1) WCI vs. (9) Grand River
Regular Season:  WCI 59, Grand River 27
The Vikes, who have yet to be challenged in league play (winning every game by 27+) are massive favourites in this one. I don't think the question is "if" they'll win, but by how much.  I think Grand River might be able to keep it respectable but the Vikes should be ahead at the end.  WCI by 29.

(2) Jacob Hespeler vs. (7) Elmira
Regular Season:  JHSS 43, Elmira 37
An interesting 7 vs. 2 match-up here and might actually end up being the closest.  Elmira has been playing great basketball as of late (even better than when they kept things tight against JHSS at home during the regular season).  I'll go with the Hawks at home, but it could get interesting.  As a side-note, it looks like all-star PG Taylor Dennis has been cleared to play for JHSS but not sure if she'll see any action in this one.  JHSS by 8.

(3) Waterloo-Oxford vs. (6) Southwood
Regular Season:  WODSS 57, SSS 45
The Crusaders head into the playoffs having lost 2 of their last 3 league games, while the Sabres haven't lost in WCSSAA play since October 4th.  That being said, the Sabres did have a scare in their playoff qualifier, holding off Preston by a mere two points.  It could get interesting in Baden, but I think the guard play of WODSS is too strong here.  WODSS by 11.

(4) Cameron Hts. vs (5) Bluevale
Regular Season:  CHCI 49, BCI 43
The Gaels took out the Knights in the regular-season finale to earn a first-round bye (and this home game).  This should again be another very close game.  Home-court edge to the Gaels, so I'll go CHCI by 3.

Junior

(1) Grand River vs. (8) Cameron Heights
Regular Season:  GRCI 52, CHCI 26
My Pick:  GRCI by 32

D8: Monday Results Solidify Playoff Picture

As I mentioned yesterday, there wasn't too much to worry about with regards to the D8 playoff picture heading into Monday.

The only thing that could have thrown a wrench into things would have been in the junior division, where Rockway (0-14) would have needed an upset over first-place Resurrection.  Obviously, that was a long-shot at best as the Phoenix jumped out to a 33-0 lead and cruised to a 52-16 win.  Celia McGlynn had 16 for Rez, while Jamie Torrance Perks notched 5 for the Flames.

St. David defeated St. Benedict (39-36) in what will also be a playoff game on Wednesday.  Obviously, Monday's game meant very little as SBCSS had already wrapped up the #2 seed and homecourt for the semifinal showdown.

St. Mary's took out PRDG 33-18, with Sara Jankovic (10) hitting double-figures and Brittany Gulic adding 8.  Kristine Boileau had a game-high 12 for PRDG while Paige Markson had 6.

The final game saw MDCSS defeat Woodland 48-32.  Victoria Barroso had 18 while Yasmeen Smith added 12 for the 'Stangs; Julianna Thomson had a game-high 22 for the Cavs.

Senior
Resurrection finished up without a loss in the regular season yesterday by taking out Rockway on the road to the tune of 55-31.  Sarah Schulz notched 15 for Rez, while Emma Kschesinski had 13 for RMC.

The Woodland - MDCSS score was not immediately available.  So, the standings below are pending that result, but it won't affect anything as far as playoffs are concerned:

Senior BAA Quarterfinals & Playoff Picture

Playoff action got underway yesterday afternoon in the BAA "South" division.

In senior, Kincardine took care of Saugeen by a 44-17 final, with Andrea Plagos pouring in 16 points in the win.  Kelly Gribbons (9) paced the Royals in that one.  Sacred Heart advanced over Walkerton DCS in the other contest.

In junior, Sacred Heart (3-4) pulled an upset over the home team from Kincardine (6-1), squeaking out a 29-26 win.  Walkerton advanced over John Diefenbaker in the other junior game.

The BAA North, which is only a three team league, has its "quarterfinal" games today.  In junior, all three teams finished with a 3-3 mark, but Peninsula Shores gets the #1 seed and playoff bye.  #2 St. Mary's will play #3 Owen Sound today.  In senior, St. Mary's (3-3) will host 0-6 Peninsula Shores.

Winners of the quarterfinal round will advance to the BAA "final four", which takes place on Friday.

In terms of CWOSSA qualification, Peninsula Shores has advanced to the "A" junior CWOSSA playoffs, while PSDS or Walkerton (I believe a play-in game is required) will battle for the junior berth.

The other BAA teams mentioned above are "AA", and there are 2 BAA CWOSSA berths per division.
