WCSSAA: WODSS Pulls Out Of League

League sources have confirmed that the Waterloo-Oxford Crusaders will not be fielding a senior girls' basketball team this coming season in the WCSSAA league.

Details were scarce, but most withdrawals at this point of the school year are generally a result of a lack of players for the team.

The Crusaders have had some solid teams over the years, and it was only a decade ago that they pulled off the rare "junior-senior" double at "AA" CWOSSA.

Although the senior Crusaders finished up at 3-9 last year in WCSSAA play, their junior squad was a CWOSSA "AAA" rep and finished the year with a very solid 10-2 mark.  They made both the junior semifinals in WCSSAA and CWOSSA, losing in the latter to the eventual champion Hespeler Hawks by 6 points.

We'll hope to see the Crusaders back in the league next year, when all of that talent fully moves up to the senior level.
