The FIBA U17 World Championship for Women took place over the past 10 days in the Czech Republic, and the Canadian team came away with a very respectable 6th place finish among the 16 countries in attendance.
Kendra Van Leeuwen (Brantford St. John's) had a very nice tournament for Canada, averaging 8.7 PPG, 4 RPG and 0.9 APG in 7 tournament games.
Van Leeuwen's best game came in pool play against the host Czech Republic, where she poured in 20 points (7/9 FG, 3/3 3PT), and added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. The Czechs would go on to finish 4th overall.
