The Glenview Park Panthers captured their first-ever CWOSSA Junior Boys' basketball title on Friday in Owen Sound, defeating the Bishop Macdonell Celtics by a 58-47 score in the championship final.
Glenview had won a senior CWOSSA title (AAA, 2002), but had never tasted victory in the junior ranks, despite some very solid teams in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The Panthers were the class of the "AA" field this year, winning all four of their games by double-digit margins.
In the first-round, they defeated Simcoe CS 64-28, and then easily handled Wellington Heights (Mount Forest) 71-21 in the quarterfinals.
The semifinal game against Centre Dufferin went down as a 43-21 score.
The victory by GPSS ends D10's seven-year reign on the "AA" CWOSSA junior title. Lourdes had won the past four titles, while Bishop Mac took three straight titles before that.
