The Brantford Collegiate Junior Girls are living up to the preseason hype (and initial #1 ranking when I get around to releasing them!).
BCI, who was my #3 ranked junior program last year behing Resurrection & SJAM, return the bulk of their talent from a season ago. On Thursday, they started their D5 season in convincing fashion, by rolling over Brantford St. John's by a 70-18 final.
Over the weekend, Brantford CI played at the very competitive Sarnia Northern tournament, and posted a couple of eye-opening victories.
They defeated Chatham Ursuline 50-8, and then Sarnia Northern (arguably last year's top team in the province - granted with a few girls that have since moved up to senior) by a 42-10 count. They lost the tournament final by 10 to Chatham Kent, who are in this weekend's ECI tournament (for comparison purposes).
Other results that I was able to track down from yesterday included the Senior St. John's squad defeating Brantford CI, 70-20, and a 39-35 win for North Park over Assumption, also in the senior ranks.
