Ivan Bilandzic hit the go-ahead jumper with 10 seconds remaining in regulation as the WCI Vikings edged the Cameron Heights Golden Gaels 60-58 in the championship final of the CHCI Junior Invitational Tournament on Saturday evening.
The Vikes took a 6 point lead (37-31) with 3:00 left in the third quarter, but an 11-4 run by CHCI allowed them to assume a 1-point lead (42-41) heading into the final frame. The final quarter was close throughout, as evidenced by the final margin.
The consolation final, meanwhile, saw the teams that Cameron and WCI defeated in the first round (St. Benedict and Resurrection) do battle in an all-D8 affair. The Phoenix came out on top in that one, 54-44.
