D8: Playoff Quarterfinal Results

Things went "according to form" in yesterday's D8 basketball playoffs.  Here's a look, starting on the senior side:

Senior
(3) Monsignor Doyle 62, (6) Rockway 33
My Pick:  MDCSS by 27
The Mustangs jumped out to a 38-16 halftime lead, and had 4 players in double figures on Monday en route to a comfortable win.  Tyler Saris (13) and Jamal Bell (12) led the way; Connor Huxman had a game-high 17 for the Flames.

(4) St. Benedict 42, (5) St. David 27
My Pick:  SBCSS by 8
Jamal Hajo had 19 points and Martin Le chipped in 11 for the Saints who get the "reward" of playing #1 St. Mary's in the next round.

Semifinals - Wednesday
(3) Mons. Doyle at (2) Resurrection
(4) St. Benedict at (1) St. Mary's

Note:  MDCSS has also clinched a CWOSSA play-in game berth as D8's "AAA" representative.

Junior
(3) Resurrection 79, (6) Rockway 40
My Pick:  RCSS by 32
The Phoenix had six players with 6+ points, keyed by Shaquille Amos' 14 point effort.  Joseph Hunter added 12 and Sahil Hotwani 9 for Rez, while Jesse Reusser (12) and Aidan Atkins (11) both had double-figure efforts for RMC.

(4) St. David 70, (5) Mons. Doyle 40
My Pick:  SDCSS by 12

A lot was on the line in this one, with the winner also getting D8's "AAA" CWOSSA spot.  John Winnett poured in 16 points while Mason Cumming added 15 for the Celts; Jordan Deveney-Reid had a game-high 25 for the Mustangs.
