WCSSAA Senior: Thursday Results

Forest Heights 58, Eastwood 41
My Pick:  FHCI
The Trojans started the game on a run and didn't look back.  Four Trojans, including Srdjan Stanviuk (15) and Kieran McAndrew (13) were in double figures.  Jerelle Vaughan had 16 and Terel Christian 9 for ECI.

SJAM 34, Bluevale 26
My Pick:  SJAM
A low-scoring affair, and a bit surprising since you'd expect Ben Reyhani (SJAM) and Stefan Cvkralj (BCI) to put up numbers like that themselves!  On Thursday, Reyhani led SJAM with 19 while Cvrkalj topped the BCI scoring with 9.

Grand River 62, WCI 59
My Pick:  GRCI
An important Renegade win here --- and a balanced attack was key for GRCI.  Filip Cvrkalj and Brodi Verbiski had 17 each while Osama Qahwash added 14.  WCI also had a few guys in double figures --- Alex Copp (13), Jacob Ranton (11) and Malcolm Piazza (10).

WODSS 67, Jacob Hespeler 59
My Pick:  JHSS
I went with the home team here, but the Crusaders pull out the key win.  Jesse Dodgson had 15 and Erich Wooley 12 for W-O, while the Hawks got 16 from Joel Perkins and 12 from Josh Kirkham.

Galt 61, Southwood 47
My Pick:  SSS
The Sabres go 0-2 on the week against Cambridge schools lower than them in the standings, as they fell at home to GCI on Thursday.  Khairi Awais picked a good time to be his school's leading scorer (first time this year) with a 24 point effort; Jack Simmons had 12 more for Galt.  Southwood received 20 from Mack Collins and 16 from Brian Doran.

KCI 57, Glenview Park 49
My Pick:  KCI
The Raiders improve to 6-3 by holding off GPSS.  Alex Galea (16) and Devin Bogart (11) led the way on Thursday for KCI; Erist Wame had 14 and Mark Saris 10 for Glenview.

Preston 67, Huron Heights 50
My Pick:  HHHS
Don't look now but the Panthers are on a win streak!  Wes Meertens had 21 and Chris Ackie 11 in this game to put the Panthers right back in the playoff hunt.  Sean Samuel had 14 and Darcy Jacobs 13 for the Huskies.

** - clinched first round bye
* - clinched playoff spot

....probably the first time in a while that all teams in the league have at least 2 wins, showing the balance of the league.  I do realize that teams picking up "bye wins" against EDSS has something to do with that, but it's still shaping up to be an exciting last 3 games of the regular season.
