Following a big win over previously unbeaten Bishop Mac (59-26) last week, the Orangeville DSS Bears are in the driver's seat for the #1 seed in the D10 playoffs.
The Bears (12-1) now own the tiebreak over Bishop Mac -- they have split their season series (1-1), but ODSS now owns the +/- differential.
Maggie Franz and Lauren Foullong have been consistent threats for the Bears, who must still defeat CWDHS (1-12) to officially clinch the top seed.
Most of the remaining playoff seeds have been determined.
ODSS should finish 1st with a win today, while Bishop Mac would then take 2nd. The winner of today's game between CCVI & St. James (both 8-5) will finish 3rd, with the loser taking 4th. JF Ross is locked into 5th (currently 6-7) while Lourdes sits alone in 6th (4-9). CWHDS & GCVI both sit at 1-12, so should neither team win today, the Falcons would take 7th via tiebreak.
Senior
First place is on the line tonight at Bishop Mac, where the Lourdes Crusaders and the Bishop Mac Celtics (both 10-1) will battle at 5:15, with the winner taking top spot and a first-round bye (only 7 teams in the league this year, with St. James not fielding a team).
All 3 of today's games will actually help to determine playoff seeding.
GCVI (7-4) hosts JF Ross (6-5) in a battle for 3rd place and a possible CWOSSA "AAA" berth. The Royals nipped GCVI last time at home, so another win today would give the Royals 3rd.
ODSS (1-10) plays winless CWDHS (0-11) with 6th place on the line. The Bears won the earlier meeting by 6, so CWDHS would need a victory by at least that margin to usurp the Bears in the standings.
Centennial (5-7) is locked into the #5 seed.
