For the first time since 2003, the CWOSSA region will be sending a team other than Bishop Macdonell to the OFSAA "AA" tournament.The Celtics, who had won the last 12 titles, were defeated 56-52 by rival Our Lady of Lourdes in the D10 championship game. With both schools being "AA", Lourdes received the league's lone CWOSSA berth.
Lourdes, who was also the D10's regular season champion, will enter as prohibitive favourites to win the tournament.
Like the junior tournament, the team with the best chance of knocking them off may come from their own pool -- the Galt Ghosts. The Ghosts feature Beth Fleming, one of the better players in the CWOSSA region. Fleming has put up some big numbers and kept the Ghosts in some games against the upper-echelon teams in the WCSSAA region.
Also joining Galt and Lourdes in Pool "B" will be Holy Trinity (Simcoe) from NSSAA.
Grey Highlands (BAA), Wellington Heights (D4) and St. David (D8) comprise the teams in Pool "A".
