Forest City Tournament Preview

HUGE tournament down in London this weekend. Unfortunately prior tournament commitments will keep me further north, but I look forward to hearing results.

NOTE: Any tournament results (regardless of tournament, junior/senior level) can be emailed to me (
cwossabasketball@hotmail.com). Top scorers are great as well, but not necessary.

Here's a quick look at the draw and CWOSSA's matchups

10am - London Beal vs. West Humber CI
11:30am - Martingrove CI vs. Cambridge Southwood
1:00pm - Pickering vs. London Westminster
2:30pm - Waterloo Bluevale vs. Hamilton ACMT

10am - Guelph Centennial vs. Tecumseh St. Anne
11:30am - Hamilton St. Thomas More vs. Waterloo SJAM
1:00pm - London Oakridge vs. Toronto Northern SS
2:30pm - Father Henry Carr vs. Waterloo CI

10am - Centennial vs. St. Anne (Tecumseh)
The St. Anne Saints are not as strong as in previous years, and actually dropped 2 league games in a row before rebounding with a double-digit win over St. Joseph's the other week. This will likely be the best chance to see a CWOSSA first-round win.

11:30am - Martingrove vs. Southwood
This one is pretty much over as of posting time, and I'm sure we'll see Martingrove win this one. The Grove is currently ranked #8 in the GTA, and have posted some big wins (Henry Carr).

11:30am - St. Thomas More vs. SJAM
Another tough matchup----STM is currently ranked in the top 10 in Ontario. Look for a More victory going away.

2:30pm - ACMT vs. Bluevale
This will be a very difficult matchup for Bluevale. These teams met at the SOSI, with ACMT destroying the Knights by a 71-36 final. BCI will need some backup for Stefan Cvrkalj (who had 20 of their 36 points in the first meeting).

2:30pm - Father Henry Carr vs. WCI
Yikes. Nothing against Coach Nickel's squad, but the Vikes draw one of the top 3 teams in the province here, and will do well to keep this one "respectable".

Projected Second Round Opponents for CWOSSA Teams:

Centennial --- Championship Side vs. St. Thomas More

Bluevale --- Consolation Side vs. London Westminster
SJAM --- Consolation Side vs. Tecumseh St. Anne's
WCI --- Consolation Side vs. Oakridge/Northern
SSS --- Consolation Side vs. West Humber
