A big game deserves a big stage.
With (again) two of the top five teams in CWOSSA, the District 8 league has announced that its league finals will be played at the University of Waterloo on Friday, February 17th. As always, it will be a junior-senior doubleheader (6pm & 8pm are the projected game times).
The St. Mary's Eagles and Resurrection Phoenix are currently on a collision course to meet in the senior final for the third straight season (though we will see what the St. Benedict Saints have to say about it).
Only one D8 school moves on to AAAA CWOSSA. Interestingly enough, last year's Eagles became the first team in CWOSSA history not to advance to OFSAA within 3 years of capturing a junior CWOSSA "AAAA" championship. The Phoenix could fall in the same category this season.
From a historical trend, all CWOSSA "AAAA" junior champions have advanced to OFSAA within 3 years of their junior championship (i.e. when then grade 10s would be 5th year students).
