Senior: Doyle Loses in Championship of Norfolk Tourney

The D8's Monsignor Doyle Mustangs of Cambridge fell in the finals of the 4th Annual Knights of Norfolk Basketball Tournament to St. Joseph CSS of St. Thomas. Over Friday and Saturday teams from Norfolk, Brantford, St. Thomas and Cambridge participated in the tournament hosted by Holy Trinity CSS of Simcoe.

On the Championship draw St. Joseph's of St. Thomas edged CWOSSA #1 in "A" Waterford (32-30) and Brantford Collegiate (38-28) on their way to the Final.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Doyle won over Port Dover (58-52) and Brantford Assumption (51-38) on their side of the draw.

In the final, St. Josephs built a slim 14 - 11 lead after the first quarter to a commanding 32 - 18 difference at half. Over the remaining two quarters, the teams traded baskets with a resulting final score of 56 - 38 in favour of St. Joe's.

Doyle was lead in the tourney by Shayne Teet and Josh Loehle with each averaging 14 points per game.

The 'Stangs are back in action this week with two league games --- Rockway (Monday) and St. Mary's (Wednesday). The latter may be a preview of a D8 semifinal as well.
