D10: Scores, Picks And News

YTD:  26-5 (.839)

The Guelph CVI Gaels are officially out of D10 competition.

It had been widely speculated that the Gaels would "pull the plug" on their junior and senior boys' basketball teams, and it is now official over on the D10 website (scorestop.com).

It further looks as though games played against GCVI to this point will NOT count in the final standings.  That's bad news for the senior Centre Wellington Falcons, who are now 0-9 on the season.

Speaking of games played, there was a doubleheader from yesterday to catch you up on.

St. James took both ends of the junior and senior contests with Centre Wellington, winning the senior tilt 61-38 and posting a similar score in the junior contest (54-37).

In the senior game, Joey Hasson posted a game-high 18 for the Lions, with Zack McClenaghan netting 16.  Ian Newman (9) and James Scott (8) led CWDHS.

Keegan Feeney had 15 for the Lions in the junior game, while Nick McKellar scored 14 for the Falcons.

Picks
Three games are on tap today in D10 (4pm starts), including another battle between two teams at the top of the standings:

Centennial (8-1) at Bishop Mac (7-1)
My Pick:  BMAC by 3
I anticipate another close contest --- much like their OT thriller last time around.  Home advantage to the Celtics here.

Lourdes (2-6) at Orangeville (2-7)
My Pick:  OLOL by 4
Should be a single digit game either way, but I'll go with Lourdes here.

St. James (6-3) at JF Ross (5-3)
My Pick:  JFR by 7
Three single digit games today?  It's certainly possible.  Edge to the homecourt Royals.
