The Forest Heights CI Trojans, my current #1 senior team in CWOSSA, took the "Sir Wilfrid Laurier" flight final at the Silver Fox invitational in Hamilton this past weekend with a 60-48 win over Holy Names of Windsor.
The Trojans got off to a good start by defeating Governor Simcoe of St. Catharines 57-50 in their first game (Juwan Miller, 26), which advanced them to a meeting with the #1 seeded HB Beal Raiders of London.
A valiant effort in that one fell short as Beal came away with a 60-46 win (Javon Masters, 24) thanks in part to Chevaun Miller-Bennett's 34-point outburst.
Despite the loss, the Trojans had little time to reflect on the defeat as their third game on Friday was only a couple of hours later against Collingwood CVI. The Trojans pulled out a 41-38 win, thanks to Masters knocking in almost half of their points (he finished with 20).
In the Sir Wilfrid Laurier flight final against Holy Names, Masters again led the way with 24 points.
All in all, a very successful weekend for the Trojans especially considering the level of competition ---- all four of their opponents had participated in last year's OFSAA tournament (at their respective class):
Governor Simcoe - AAA (#7 seed)
HB Beal - AAAA (#6 seed)
Holy Names - AAAA (#13 seed)
Collingwood - AAAA (#18 seed)
