The St. Michael CSS Warriors defeated Guelph Lourdes 59-38 to take the 2010 Timmy Rose Memorial high school basketball tournament this past weekend at St. David CSS in Waterloo.
The Warriors defeated three CWOSSA schools to earn the title.
In the first round, they breezed past WCSSAA's Galt Collegiate by a 53-28 final. In the semifinal, they upended the host St. David Celtics 39-36 (St. David defeated Bishop Mac of Guelph in their first round game).
St. Michael's Jeremy Dechert was named tournament MVP.
