D10: Quarterfinal Tuesday

Senior
(8) Orangeville at (1) Centre Wellington
RS:  CWDHS 2-0 (54-18, 49-21)
My Pick:  CWDHS by 35

Look for a big win by the Falcons today; a #8 seed has never upset a #1 in D10 girls basketball playoff history.

(7) Centennial at (2) Bishop Mac
RS:  BMAC 2-0 (50-16, 51-32)
My Pick:  BMAC by 28

The Celtics should also advance through to the semifinals comfortably, provided they aren't looking ahead to a potential date with JF Ross on Thursday.

(6) Guelph CVI at (3) JF Ross
RS:  JFR 2-0 (43-38, 39-24)
My Pick:  JFR by 14

There's some upset potential here ---- or at least it could be a bit closer than people think.  I still like the Royals to be ahead at the end, though.

(5) Lourdes at (4) St. James
RS:  1-1 (Lourdes 36-33, STJ 62-40)
My Pick:  STJ by 9
The most even of the quarterfinal matchups, this one definitely has the potential to go either way (the squads split their two meetings during the year).  The Lions always play well at home, so I'll go with them here in this one.

Junior

(8) Orangeville at (1) St. James
RS:  STJ 2-0 (57-28, 37-18)
My Pick:  STJ by 25

The Lions will cruise past the ODSS Bears at home today; there should be plenty of minutes to go around for the STJ rotation.

(7) GCVI at (2) Lourdes
RS:  OLOL 2-0 (47-43, 35-23)
My Pick:  OLOL by 18

A difficult 2/7 matchup technically, as Lourdes only won both regular season meetings by a combined 16 points.  I think they'll do a bit better today, with everything on the line in terms of their season.

(6) JF Ross at (3) Bishop Mac
RS:  BMAC 2-0 (25-21, 40-34)
My Pick:  BMAC by 9
Another potentially interesting matchup here.  The Celtics, though they finished 3rd, did not post any double-digit wins over teams not named (#7) GCVI or (#8) ODSS.  I expect another hard-fought, low scoring game here, but for the Celts to be ahead at the end.

The really interesting thing with this one is that if the Royals win, they are virtually assured a CWOSSA "AAAA" spot because of our final matchup......

(5) Centennial at (4) CWDHS
RS:  1-1 (CCVI 32-28, CW 34-32)
My Pick:  CWDHS by 5

This one should be epic.  On the line?  A spot in the semifinals and a guaranteed CWOSSA "AAAA" berth (unless ODSS can pull a complete shocker and beat St. James).  The loser will be cheering for the Celtics to beat JF Ross to earn their way into CWOSSA as (likely) D10 #2.

Both of their regular season games were decided by 4 or less, so expect another close one here in Fergus tonight.  Edge to the homecourt Falcons.
