WCSSAA Quarterfinal Tuesday: Picks

The only school hosting a doubleheader is WCI, so games there will be at 3:30 (JR) and 5:00 (SR).  Otherwise, these are all 3:30pm starts.

Senior

(1) Waterloo CI vs. (9) Elmira
Regular Season:  WCI 56, Elmira 33
My Pick:  WCI by 37

The WCI Vikings are the class of the WCSSAA league, and I look for them to come out strong in this one to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

(2) Preston vs. (10) KCI
Regular Season:  PHS 61, KCI 46
My Pick:  PHS by 21

The winner of this game will secure an "AAA" CWOSSA berth.  Actually, Preston is in provided WCI beats Elmira or Jacob Hespeler takes out Bluevale.

The Panthers, I'm sure, would love nothing better than to complete their dream season with playing in the WCSSAA championship on their home floor.  They'll take the first step today, as they have too much depth for the Raiders.

(3) Eastwood vs. (6) Cameron Heights
Regular Season:  ECI 62, CHCI 39
My Pick:  ECI by 16

I think the Cameron Heights' Gaels will put up a better effort than the scoreboard showed in their regular season game, but Michelle Hudyn and the Rebs will come through with the win at home.

(4) Bluevale vs. (5) Jacob Hespeler
Regular Season:  BCI 40, JHSS 32
My Pick:  BCI by 3

Should be the best one of the day, as the rankings would indicate.  I think this one comes down to the wire, with Brooklyn Wright having a dominant effort inside but the depth of Bluevale's guards being the difference as they sneak through with a win.

Junior

(1) WODSS vs. (8) Bluevale
Regular Season:  WODSS 45, BCI 29
My Pick:  WODSS by 28
The regular season game was actually the Crusaders' "closest" game in WCSSAA this year.  I think they'll be a bit more comfortable in their home gym, as they advance through to the semifinals today.

(2) WCI vs. (10) Eastwood
Regular Season:  WCI 48, ECI 20
My Pick:  WCI by 19

The Eastwood Rebels are playing some nice basketball to end the season, and they could hang around early before the depth and skill of the Vikes enables them to pull away by the final buzzer.

(3) Elmira vs. (6) Grand River
Regular Season:  EDSS 33, GRCI 23
My Pick:  EDSS by 7

I'm anticipating a hard-fought, defensive battle here with Nicole Cressman and the Lancers advancing through to the semifinals.

(4) KCI vs. (5) Jacob Hespeler
Regular Season:  KCI 29, JHSS 28
My Pick:  JHSS by 3
I'll go with Candice and Courtney Wright to come through for the Hawks as the day's lower seeded team to advance in a squeaker (much like their regular season game).  Both of these teams have already advanced through to AAA CWOSSA, along with the Elmira Lancers.
