YTD 13-2 (.867)
Two games went down last night in D10 in both the junior & senior ranks; here's a quick look at those results:
Senior
In the big game on Wednesday between "AA" rivals, Lourdes was able to slip past the Bishop Mac Celtics by a 58-57 final at home.
Craig Valeriote (19), Kevin Roche (17) and Andrew Chapman (12) all provided double-digit efforts for Lourdes. Jesse Kendall (17) and Owen Brombal (10) led the way for the Celts.
The other game saw St. James defeat Orangeville 69-56. Zach McClenaghan had 16 for St. James, while Deysean Thompson scored 16 for the Bears.
Junior
Like the senior game, the junior BMAC-OLOL game was also decided by 1 point, and featured a terrific ending.
Down 54-51 with 1.4 seconds left (and inbounding at their own baseline), the Celtics got the ball to Jack Olsen who was fouled shooting a three-pointer at the buzzer. Olsen made all 3 FTs to force OT, where the Celtics would pull out a 63-62 win.
Certainly brings back some memories for CWOSSA fans of the '05 WCSSAA senior semifinals, where #1 seeded WCI was down 3 but rescued by Gavin Horne being fouled at the buzzer on a three-point attempt (also made all 3 to force OT, where WCI won).
Greg MacEachern led BMAC with 15, while Olsen finished with 13. James Gerstenkorn had a game-high 22 points for Lourdes, with Sean Gade adding 13.
Thursday Senior Picks
Centennial (3-2) at JF Ross (5-0)
My Pick: JFR by 14
You can almost always through the records out the window when these two rivals meet; to this point, JF Ross has established themselves as the team to beat in the D10 circuit and I think they take this one at home today.
Orangeville (0-5) at Guelph CVI (0-5)
My Pick: ODSS by 3
Coin flip game here; I'll take a shot with the ODSS Bears in this one.
Centre Wellington (1-4) at St. James (2-3)
My Pick: STJ by 11
The Lions need this win to keep pace with the top 4 teams in the league, and I think they'll pick up the "W" at home today.
