Despite the final score (69-48), things were a little interesting down in Cambridge for the Resurrection Phoenix last night.
The Phoenix actually trailed Monsignor Doyle 17-8 early on in the game before 5th year PG Adam Schneider (who initially wasn't going to play due to a back injury) entered the game and injected some energy to the Phoenix.
End result? Schneider scored 12 points (second on the team to Patric McGlynn's 14) as Rez outscored Monsingor Doyle 61-31 the rest of the contest.
Rookies Ryan Stafford (game high 17) and Sohrob Sultani (13) were the top MDCSS performers.
The other D8 senior games went as expected:
St. Mary's 64, St. Benedict 32
My Pick: SMHS by 37
The Eagles raced to a 41-7 halftime lead, and then sat their starters for essentially the whole second half (with the exception of Tesloth Simon who played the fourth quarter with the reserves for some stability). Avery Sutton (13) and Nathan Riley (12) were the top Eagle scorers; Jamal Hajo had 10 to top the Saints.
St. David 64, Rockway 30
My Pick: SDCSS by 29
Grade elevens James McBride (18) and Alec Scheffler (11) topped the SDCSS scoresheet in their win on Wednesday, while RMC was led by Connor Huxman's 7 point effort.
