The St. Mary's Eagles are making a habit of coming through in the second half of D8 league games.
Just like their game against St. Benedict last week, the Eagles held a slim one point advantage over Resurrection yesterday evening but were able to use their interior size for offensive rebounds and putbacks in the second half en route to a 60-48 win on the road in a battle of top-rated CWOSSA teams last night.
Barnaba Neil had 17 while fellow forward Jason Jaros netted 14. Devonte Douse had 8 more for the Eagles; Rez was led by Ali Rashid (game-high 20 points), Prince Dang (10) and Muyang Iluya (8).
The other game on Wednesday was between two other "top 4" teams in the D8 junior circuit.
Justin Malernich scored 20 and Alex Douglas added 8 as the St. Benedict Saints scored a 58-44 win over St. David.
Brent Lasovich (14) and Mason Cummings (12) were the top scorers for the Celtics.
St. Mary's, Resurrection, St. Benedict and St. David will form the "A" circuit of the tiered D8 league after the holidays, while Monsingor Doyle, Rockway, and Woodland will round out the "B" loop.
