D8 Monday: Eagles' Senior Girls Post Key Win

The St. Mary's Eagles got a key win in Senior Girls' D8 action on Monday night, upending the Resurrection Phoenix 66-49 on the road to improve to 2-0 in league play.

The Eagles got off to a great start, extending an early lead to double-digits and heading to the locker room at halftime with an 18 point lead.  In the second half, the lead swelled to 25+, before St. Mary's rotated some players in and the Phoenix took advantage, quickly narrowing the gap all the way down to single digits.  SMHS' starters had to go back in to secure the victory.

Scoring details were not immediately available from the D8 sportsline.

In the other senior game on Monday afternoon, the St. Benedict Saints improved to 1-1 with a 46-18 win over the Rockway Flames.  Andrea Zapanza (21) and Rachel Grant (10) contributed double-digit efforts for the Saints, while Alex Hood and Sam Besant led Rockway with 7 each.
