D8 Monday Results: Favourites Hold Serve

Junior

Resurrection 55, St. Benedict 37
My Pick: RCSS

A bit closer than the final score would indicate, but regardless the Phoenix finish the regular season undefeated. The Phoenix led 17-0 after the first quarter and cruised from there. Mark Radcliffe led Rez with 12, while Adrian Russell and Adam Schneider had 7 each. Tevin Heath had 12 for Bennies, and Shakur Tay-El-Din added 7.

Rockway 54, Monsignor Doyle 40
My Pick: RMC

Jordan Fayez (20) and Steven Veltri (15) provided a solid 1-2 punch for the Flames in this one. Dan Czerny replied with 15 of his own for Doyle in a losing cause.

Standings
1. Resurrection 10-0
T2. St. Mary's 6-3
T2. St. David 6-3
4. St. Benedict 4-5
------
5. Rockway 2-8
6. Monsignor Doyle 0-10

Playoff Matchups are confirmed (next Wednesday, February 17th):
(4) St. Benedict at (1) Resurrection
(3) St. David at (2) St. Mary's ---- St. Mary's has to beat winless Doyle in their last game first

Senior

Resurrection 68, St. Benedict 31
My Pick: RCSS

What tournament hangover? The Phoenix beat the Saints in convincing fashion and can clinch first should Doyle upset St. Mary's on Wednesday. The balanced Rez attack was led by Tyler Schneider and Ryan Herron (13 each); David DiAngelo and Kieran Senior had 8 each for the Saints.

Monsignor Doyle 66, Rockway 42
My Pick: MDCSS

The 'Stangs got a big 32 point performance by Josh Loehle and beat the Flames going away. Shayne Teet-Corriveau added 15 for the winners. Godwin Luk was the lone Rockway player in double figures with 10.

Standings - Senior
1. St. Mary's 8-1
2. Resurrection 8-2
3. St. David 5-4
4. Mons. Doyle 4-5
-----
5. St. Benedict 3-6
6. Rockway 0-10

Still a little too early for the playoff matchups, as Wednesday's games will help sort out a lot!
