GUELPH – They got a scare, but the
Bishop Macdonell Celtics finished off an undefeated District 10 campaign
Saturday night at the Mitchell Athletics Centre.
The Celtics, who led by as many as 17 points in the second half, hung on for a seven-point victory over the Lourdes Crusaders in the senior girls final.
Lourdes narrowed the lead to one point midway through the fourth quarter but ran out of gas.
Bishop Mac went 14-0 during the regular season.
Andrea Priamo and Rebecca Morris each had 12 points to lead the Celtics’ attack. Sandra Larmer added 10.
Hannah Pearsall’s 15 points for Lourdes led all scorers.
Lourdes went 11 for 28 from the free throw line.
In the junior final, the Guelph CVI Green Gaels downed the St. James Lions 35-30.
Jenna Falconer’s 12 points for the Gaels led all scorers. Teammate Abby MacIntyre chipped in with 10 and Jordan Robinson had seven.
For the Lions, Nastassja Herriot led the way with 11 points and Donna Zen had seven.
The Gaels never trailed in the game and led 16-13 at the half.
