The starters for the current #1-ranked team in CWOSSA, the Centre Dufferin Royals, saw a lot of court time at the Heinbuch Tournament last weekend.
Their first league game? Not so much.
The Royals' starters played just six minutes in their opener on Monday afternoon before giving way to the reserves in a 66-33 win over Orangeville Westside.
Sixth-man Dhruv Patel led the way with 23 points for the Royals, while Matt Pflance added 11.
Sami Mikuluk (10) and Riley Crean (8) topped the Westside scoring.
In other Monday D4 action, Norwell cruised past Emmanuel Christian 49-15, backed by 12 from Drew Cowan and 10 by Justin Davidson. Nick Nobel and Colin Bos had 4 each for ECHS.
Also, Wellington Heights topped Erin DHS 42-22. Luke Hogg netted 13 and Kurtis Trommelen 9 for the Wolverines, while Austin Blackwell and Matthew Napier had 7 apiece for Erin.
Junior
A couple of lopsided results started the D4 junior season on Monday.
Norwell DSS demolished Emmanuel Christian by a 61-9 final, with Tom Langille pouring in 24 points and Jacob Elliot and Russel Denison adding 10 each. Marty Westrik had 5 for ECHS.
Wellington Heights took out Erin DHS 55-11, with Josh Feletto topping the scoresheet with a 16-point effort. Taron Cadney added 8 for WHSS, and Callum Smith led the way for Erin with 7.
Centre Dufferin's juniors defeated Orangeville Westside 40-27 in the other game on Monday. Silas Sales had a game-high 16 in the win.
