WCSSAA Thursday: Murray, Rens Top Huron Heights

For a Grade 10 kid, Jamal Murray is certainly having little difficulty transitioning to Senior Boys basketball.

Murray notched a game-high 28 points (including another nice dunk) on Thursday as the Renegades moved to 2-0 in WCSSAA play with a 70-61 win over Huron Heights.  Chuder Teny added 18 for Grand River, while Juwan Miller had 19 for Huron Heights with Darcy Jacobs adding 17.

In other WCSSAA Senior action on Thursday:

WCI 72, Preston 28
The Vikings certainly didn't have much trouble on Thursday to rebound from their opening loss to Huron Heights.  Dani Elgadi led the way with 18, while Zach Totzke netted 14.  Patrick Iskat had 12 to lead the way for Preston, with Tyler Gibner adding 4.

Bluevale 37, Glenview Park 34
Another tight win for the Knights as a possible game-tying three pointer by Sean Davidson rimmed out.  Jeevan Sidhu had 17 and John Efechaobor 9 for Bluevale; Davidson had a game-high 18 for Glenview with Erist Wame adding 10.

SJAM 52, KCI 33
The Highlanders move solidly in the right direction with a win over the Raiders on Thursday; they were backed by three players in double digits --- Quinn Turner (14), Nathaniel Ellis (12) and Brett Parrot (12).  Amanj Saber had 6 for KCI while Stefan Simic scored 5.

Jacob Hespeler 62, Forest Hts. 45
In a rematch of last year's WCSSAA semifinal, won by the Trojans (66-47), the Hawks flipped the script with a convincing win on Thursday.  Sure, most of the cast of last year's game has since departed but one of the remaining members of last year's JHSS team, Javon Bryce, had another solid game with a 26-point effort while Shawn Thompson added 10.  Ryan Hagey had 11 and Elijah Callendar 7 for the Trojans.

Eastwood 70, Elmira 42
The Rebels moved to 2-0 with a win at home over Elmira (0-2).  Farid Hashemi (19) and Sydney Stewart (14) led the way for Eastwood while Brian Gruneberg had 10 for Elmira with three other Lancers scoring 7.

Cameron Hts. 76, Galt 37
A bit of a surprising score out of Kitchener as the Gaels jumped out early on Galt and never looked back.  Vedran Dmitrovic led the Gaels with 21 while Afraz Khan netted 16; Jack Simmons scored 13 for Galt with rookie TJ Lall adding 9.
