WCSSAA Senior: Miller, Huskies Outlast Vikings

The CWOSSA #7 Huron Heights Huskies got a big performance by Juwan Miller on Tuesday; his fine play helped the Huskies to an early 33-16 lead and they held on down the stretch for an exciting 73-70 win against the CWOSSA #4 WCI Vikings.

Miller sliced-and-diced his way to a 28-point performance, the top scoring effort on the day in WCSSAA.  Miller's teammate Paul Gubek knocked home five three-pointers for a 15-point total, while WCI was led by Dani Elgadi with 26 and Zach Totzke who scored 17.

Needless to say, with two very tough games (WCI and GRCI) before the league goes on hiatus for (at least) the rest of the month, Huron needed to win at least one of them.  Thursday's game against Grand River should be another one to watch (3:30pm, HHSS).

In other Tuesday action:

Bluevale 36, KCI 34
Neither team was at their offensive best on Tuesday, but the Knights were able to outlast the KCI Raiders down the stretch.  Jeevan Sidhu and Lukas Seibert had 8 each for Bluevale while Amanj Saber netted a game-high 11 for KCI with grade 10 Stefan Simic adding 6.

Cameron Hts. 80, Southwood 57
Speaking of offensive output, the Gaels outscored the combined total of the aforementioned game with an 80-point showing down in Cambridge.  Vedran Dmitrovic (14) and Vlad Matovic (11) led the way; Zac Sauer and Riley Clipper had 20 each for the Sabres.

Glenview Park 41, SJAM 34
Sean Dutton scored 14 and Ryan Threndyle added 8 as the Panthers knocked off the SJAM Highlanders on Tuesday.  Quinn Turner scored 14 and Brett Parrot 9 for SJAM.

Grand River 60, Preston 43
Jamal Murray threw down a couple of first-quarter dunks before spending most of the second half on the bench.  Despite that, he finished with a game-high 20 points, while Chuder Teny added 12 for GRCI.  Patrick Iskat had a nice 19-point effort for Preston, with Tanner Derjugin contributing 6.

Eastwood 61, Jacob Hespeler 56
JHSS' Javon Bryce went off for 24 points but it wasn't enough as the Rebels held on for the 5-point win.  Ousmane Kromah (18) and Jerelle Vaughan (17) led the way for ECI.

Forest Hts. 48, Elmira 45
Close one in Kitchener but the Trojans get the win backed by 13 from Mo Al-Hares and 8 from Elijah Callendar.  Walker Stewart and Aaron Nafziger had 12 each for the Lancers.
