Dave Burnett is our latest player to join the "top 15 players of the last decade list" and comes in at #13.
Burnett was a quick-as-lightning PG for Rockway with a good outside shot and a great knack for finding his teammates. Those skills are still on display today at the University of Waterloo, where Burnett is a 5th year PG. In fact, he is UW's all-time assist leader (at least since assist stats have been recorded).
Among Burnett's accomplishments were 4 "A" CWOSSA gold medals and an OFSAA "A" gold medal in '05. Helping to put Rockway basketball on the map is definitely not an understatement.......between 2000-09 the Flames won 7 junior CWOSSA titles and 6 senior CWOSSA titles along with several medals at the OFSAA level.
On a smaller scale, Burnett led tiny Rockway to the top of the D8 several times at a time when the D8 league was very competitive (Rez - Chryo Blackwood, SMHS - Alberto Rodriguez & Jordan Hannah).
