WCSSAA Senior: Thursday Results

A couple of "big games" on Thursday afternoon have helped to further begin to settle the WCSSAA senior standings.  Here's the rundown from the action:

Waterloo CI 54, KCI 27
My Pick:  WCI
The Vikes get some "revenge" from last year's WCSSAA final loss, although both rosters have seen some significant changes.  As mentioned last night, Alyssa Shortt came up huge for WCI, equalling KCI's output with a 27-point performance herself.  Lindsay Lessard added in 9, while for KCI Kate McTavish (10), Barbara Robertson (5) and Andrea Bowra (5) were the top scorers.

Cameron Heights 53, Galt 41
My Pick:  CHCI
The Gaels move into a tie for 2nd after handling Galt on the road.  They received 16 each from Liz McLellan and Erin Robbins.  Liz Phillips had an outstanding game for the Ghosts, netting 26 in a losing effort.

Eastwood 55, WODSS 35
My Pick:  ECI
Speaking of tied for 2nd, that tie would include Eastwood who are also 5-1 on the young campaign.  Michelle Hudyn equalled the highest-scoring output in CWOSSA play this season, scoring 29 points.  Caitlyn Schlegel was also in double digits for ECI with 10.  Spencer Mitchell-Becker led the Crusaders with 9.

Forest Heights 40, Jacob Hespeler 34
My Pick:  JHSS
I had said in my earlier post that I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way, and it ends up being the Trojans picking up their first win of the season.  Again, Blair McNaughton was their top gun with 22 points.  JHSS' balanced scoring was led by Jess Heustis (8), Amy Barnard (6) and Beth Kelly (6).

Grand River 55, Glenview Park 22
My Pick:  GRCI
The Rens get a much-needed victory after their aforementioned tough schedule to open the season.  Natalya Pollock had 14, while Esther Peters added 11 for GRCI.  Alyssa Goodridge replied with 6 for the Panthers.

Preston 53, SJAM 44
My Pick:  PHS
Another single-digit game for the Panthers (all their wins and losses, except for one, have been by single-digit margins), and another victory.  Nikea Worrell had a 16-point outing to lead the way, with Kirsten Leach adding in 14.  For the 'Landers, Malena McCrossan-Moses had a game-high 17, while Payton Thiel was also in double digits (10).

Southwood 36, Elmira 28
My Pick:  EDSS
The Sabres are quickly starting to become my arch-nemesis in the picking game, as they take out Elmira in this defensive battle.  Alex Palvetzian led the Sabres with 13, while Kaitie Martin had 12 for the Lancers.

Bluevale CI - Default Win (HHHS)
