The Centennial Spartans maintained their grasp on second spot in the D10 senior standings on Tuesday, but needed overtime to do it in a hard-fought 63-52 win over the Lourdes Crusaders.
Erik Sterne poured in 27 points in the win for Centennial, while Jeremy Seed added 11. Andrew Chapman (15) and Kevin Roche (13) had the high totals for Lourdes on the evening.
The other two games on Tuesday went as expected.
The offensive struggles for Centre Wellington continued in a 54-25 loss to JF Ross. Kristian Vande Kemp and Mike Friesen had 16 points each for the Royals, while Ian Newman had 7 and Isaac Hewitt-Smith 6 for CWDHS.
Bishop Mac received 21 points from Mitchell Wood and 20 more from Jesse Kendall in their 70-34 win over Orangeville. Deysean Thompson led the Bears with 13, while Kyle Holmes was also in double figures with 10.
Thursday marks the final day of the D10 regular season, and all playoff positions are locked up with the exception of the top 3.
Playoff Picture - Senior
Bishop Mac can clinch first place overall with a win on Thursday at Centre Wellington, or a Centennial loss to JF Ross. The Spartans can overtake the Celtics for first if they can get a win over Ross and the Celtics fall to CWDHS.
JF Ross can bump the Spartans down to third place in the standings with a win on Thursday. The Royals defeated CCVI in their first game so would hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Junior
The Lourdes Crusaders are a tough matchup for the Centennial Spartans.
The Crusaders (7-4) handed the Spartans (9-2) their second loss of the season in a 49-43 game on Tuesday afternoon. The Crusaders had also nipped CCVI 57-56 in their first meeting earlier this year.
Craig Valeriote poured in 23 points for Lourdes in Tuesday's win, while Sean Gade added 8. Mark Shinouda (20) and Harman Goyal (8) led the Spartans.
Jake Grant (14) and Harris Cornett (13) paced the Royals in a 53-31 JF Ross win over Centre Wellington. Charlie Alexander (12) and Lucas Power (7) were the high scorers for the Falcons.
Also on Tuesday, Bishop Mac cruised past Orangeville 63-37. Jack Morris had 20 points for Bishop Mac in the win, with Jake Chaput adding 12.
Playoff Picture - Junior
There's a game today between St. James and Lourdes which will help to start to sort out the playoff picture. The winner there will be assured of 4th place, while the loser will finish 5th.
If Lourdes wins today, they will finish 8-4 and could finish 3rd should JF Ross also lose to Centennial in their season finale.
Meanwhile, Centennial has clinched first place; even should they lose to JF Ross they have beaten Bishop Mac in both of their games this season.
