I've received word that the junior SJAM Highlanders will have to forfeit their opening win against the Galt Ghosts due to the fact that their roster/eligibility listing was not in the hands of WCSSAA officials prior to the game taking place.
Although all players who played in the 72-53 were eligible, WCSSAA has ruled that the game will now go down as a 20-0 Galt win due to the roster being "in the mail" at the time of the deadline.
It will be interesting to see any potential long-term effects of that ruling, especially when it comes time for the playoff seeding (i.e. would SJAM's loss and Galt's win change the potential ranking of those two teams).
