In a highly anticipated match-up between two of the top three CWOSSA junior teams, the Lourdes Crusaders came on top of the Bishop Macdonell Celtics by a 50-44 final score yesterday afternoon.
The top scorers for both teams were at their best, with Grace Drewry (Bishop Mac) scoring 24 points and Jada Codrington (Lourdes) leading all scorers with an impressive 30 point effort.
In other junior games on Thursday:
St. James took a 33-17 win over Centennial, with Yzabel Callado scoring 14 to lead the way. Madison Ostrander and Sabrina Smith had 5 for the Bears.
Orangeville was a 38-28 winner on the road at GCVI; they were led by 11 from Lindsay Grant and 10 more by Hannah Bellai. Hannah Saunders had 12 and Mandeep Jawanda 10 for the Gaels.
CWDHS defeated JF Ross, 24-13. Abby Taylor had 11 for the Falcons, while Ross' Emily Flaherty had 5.
In senior action:
JF Ross rolled to their 5th straight win, this time a 52-8 handling of the CWDHS Falcons. Mya Leacock had 12 to lead the Royal charge while Grace Rooney had 6 for CW.
Bishop Mac defeated rival Lourdes 53-38, with Rachael DiGravio scoring 15 and Sophia Nash adding 10. Rainey Psenicka had 12 to lead Lourdes.
GCVI kept pace at the top of the standings with a 50-19 win over ODSS. Abbey MacIntyre had 15 to lead the way for the Gaels, while Acacia Smith had 10 for the Bears.
