In the biggest game on yesterday's WCSSAA schedule, the Cameron Heights Golden Gaels went on the road and defeated the Jacob Hespeler Hawks, who are always tough at home, by a 40-34 final.
The Hawks did a nice job of holding Nina Farkic to "only" 13 points, but CHCI's Andjela Stankovic was also in double figures with 10. Maddy Adams had 12 and Kendra Dennis 10 for the Hawks.
In other action on Tuesday:
The KCI Raiders picked up a much needed win, with a 49-30 victory at Waterloo-Oxford. Olivia Mickie and Thea Taylor (16 and 13, respectively) led the Raiders, while Emily Glendinning had a game-high 18 for the Crusaders.
Eastwood picked up their first win of the year, nipping the FHCI Trojans by a 38-31 final. Danielle Gardiner and Kezia Bernard had 9 each for the Rebs in the win, while Sona Khalifeh had a game-high 14 for the Trojans.
Galt picked up a big win at home, toppling Elmira 45-28. Emma Buck (15) and Beth Fleming (10) were tops on the Ghosts' side, and Nicole Cressman had 10 for the Lancers.
Grand River scored a 56-39 win over Preston, backed by 17 from Tijana Abadzic and 12 by Nyasha Mombeshora. Brooke Davidson and Claire Gagne had 8 each for PHS.
Bluevale continued their strong play, posting a 52-31 home win over Huron Heights. Rachael Hamm (15) and Maddie Fielding (12) were the top Knights; Brielle Guttensohn and Buse Celik had 6 each for Huron.
Lastly, WCI moved to 4-1 with a 43-20 win at Glenview Park. Victoria Giguere (11) and Mackenzie Obermayer (10) were in double-figures for the Vikes; Georgia Walker scored 8 for Glenview.
SJAM, who sit at 5-0, were off with a bye yesterday.
