Too much turkey perhaps?
Kidding aside, have to give props to the GCVI Gaels for a stellar defensive performance on Tuesday, going on the road and knocking off the JF Ross Royals, 43-21. Sydney Wilson (15) and Abbey MacIntyre (12) led the way for GC, while Ana Vuckovic had 11 and Mya Leacock 6 for the Royals.
With the win, the Gaels, Royals and Bishop Macdonell Celtics are all now tied atop the D10 Senior standings with identical 5-1 records. The Gaels "technically" own top spot, by way of the best +/- against the other teams (all are 1-1 against each other, with Bishop Mac having defeated GCVI).
Needless to say, it should be an exciting second half to the season, and it starts right off on Thursday with Bishop Mac and JF Ross playing for the second time.
In other games on Tuesday, Centennial handled Orangeville, 45-20, with Carter Godman's 13 points leading the way. Taylor Reimer had 7 for the Bears.
Also, Bishop Mac thumped Centre Wellington by a 53-8 count. Rachael DiGravio (18) and Sophia Nash (12) were the top Celtic performers there.
Junior
On the junior side, the Lourdes Crusaders (CWOSSA #2) continued their perfect record, improving to 7-0 with a 48-35 win over St. James. Robin Hudecki (12) and Jada Codrington (10) led the Crusaders, while Sophia Lago and LauraLee Mackeigan had 8 each for the Lions.
Also on Tuesday, GCVI toppled JF Ross, 30-17, with Mandeep Jawanda scoring 10 to lead the way for the Gaels and Aliesha Lewis netting 6 for JFR.
Bishop Mac took out CWDHS, 51-19, with Vanessa Tassone (12) and Grace Drewry (10) leading the charge.
Centennial was Tuesday's other winner, pulling out a 39-35 win on the road at Orangeville.
