Three local teams (Southwood, St. Mary's, Resurrection) took part in the Freed's Windsor/Catholic Central Tournament this past weekend.

Oakville Loyola defeated Toronto St. Mike's 82-62 in the championship game.

SJAM Highlander Hoopla This Weekend
The SJAM Highlander Hoopla Junior Boys' Tournament is set for this Friday & Saturday at Sir John A. Macdonald up in Waterloo.

The tournament has earned a reputation of drawing some of the best CWOSSA junior boys basketball teams to participate, and it is often a good early season benchmark of who will be teams to watch. Last year, Kitchener Resurrection defeated Guelph JF Ross in the championship game.

This year's format is slightly different, as the first round game is a "seeding game" (i.e. first round winners play second round losers).

First round draw:
SJAM vs. St. Mary's, 11:30am Friday
Grand River vs. Centennial, 1:00pm
JF Ross vs. North Park, 2:30pm
Resurrection vs. Forest Heights, 4:00pm

SJAM/St. Mary's/Grand River/Centennial will all play their second round games on Friday evening, while the other four clubs will play their second round games Saturday morning.

Based upon the projected draw, I see SJAM vs. North Park in one semifinal and Grand River vs. Forest Heights in the other.
