Rough Heinbuch for Raiders, Celtics; Spartans advance to Bronze Final

The KCI Raiders and St. David Celtics both went 0-for-3 in Heinbuch action as both fell in semifinal action in the Consolation division this morning.

KCI lost to London Westminster 54-43. Arben Kalaba was KCI's top gunner for the third consecutive game with 19 points. Alex Kravic had a game-high 21 for Westminster.

The St. David Celtics lost a close one to Governor Simcoe of St. Catharines, 45-43. Mike Schummer led a balanced Celtic attack with 12 points.

The Bluevale Knights, playing in the Silver division, were dumped by Ajax Pickering 68-37. Stefan Cvrkalj had 13 for Bluevale in the loss.

Also in the Silver division, Waterloo SJAM's depleted squad saw their Heinbuch Tournament come to an end at the hands of Stoney Creek's Orchard Park (58-40). Matthias Hamm had 9 for the Highlanders.

The Guelph Centennial Spartans will be the lone CWOSSA participant in any of the four divisional finals later today. The Spartans defeated Sarnia St. Christopher's 67-61 and will play London HB Beal in the final at 5:00pm (Huron Heights). Robert House had 27 points for CCVI; Joe Rocca had 31 points for St. Chris.

An interesting sidenote is that Rocca's father, Emilio, was the all-time leading scorer in Ontario College basketball (1433 career points) --- a mark that stood for 23 years until it was broken last year by Durham College's Anthony Batchelor.
