Bishop Mac downs Denis O'Connor
As expected, the #1 Bishop Mac Celtics have defeated Denis O'Connor of Ajax by a 69-34 final to advance to the quarterfinals at "AA" OFSAA.
Laura Doyle led the way for the Celtics with 17 points.
The Celtics, will head to the quarterfinals and play #10 Nicholson (host school), who defeated #14 Downsview 67-63 in double overtime. That game goes at 5:00pm this evening.
St. John's Steamrolls #16 St. Joan of Arc
St. John's used a 23-3 third quarter run to put away the #16 seed, Barrie Joan of Arc. The final tally was a 65-20 crushing. SJA managed just 7 second half points.
Kayla Santilli led St. John's with 18, while Andrea Polischuk had 9.
The Green Eagles will now play in the quarterfinals against the winner of the 11:45am game between #3 Waterloo CI and #8 Brampton D'Youville.
KCI Advances to "AAA" Quarterfinals
The KCI Raiders defeated #14 Fr. Leo 49-24 in their second round OFSAA "AAA" game. They started by scoring the first 20 points of the game and led 20-0 at the end of one quarter.
The Raiders will play #6 Bishop Ryan in one quarterfinal game tonight at 6pm (Regina Mundi). All games played at RM are available online for free, so visit the OFSAA website (www.ofsaa.on.ca/girlsaaabasketball) and click the link to watch this evening.
Flames Eliminated from "A" OFSAA
It was a surprising quick exit from the championship bracket for the 4th seeded Rockway Flames at the "A" OFSAA Championships, going 0-2. The Flames fell in second-round action to the host school, #7 seed Holy Trinity of Cornwall 41-28. Laura Burnett led Rockway with 19 points.
Rockway will still have another game or two, albeit on the consolation side of the tournament bracket.
WCI Eliminated at "AAAA" OFSAA
Speaking of surprising, the #3 ranked WCI Vikings also dropped their first two games at OFSAA and were also eliminated from championship contention.
The Vikes fell to #8 D'Youville of Brampton 41-38 in an overtime heartbreaker. Alyssa Shortt led WCI with 16, while Megan Fowler had 10.
