A few big games this week in area leagues:
District 8
The D8 has completed the first cycle through its usual "home and away" schedule, so we're back to the beginning again. That means a Wednesday (3:30pm) tilt between St. David and St. Mary's, this time over at Mary's.
St. Mary's won the last matchup by 10, and with David's having lost to Doyle this is basically a must-win for the Celtics if they are hoping to have a home-court playoff game.
Also on Wednesday, an important game will be played between Monsignor Doyle and St. Benedict, with the winner having the inside track (most likely) at a playoff berth.
WCSSAA - Senior
JR over at wcssaasports.com already touched on these a bit, but we have a few key games this week including the battle of the unbeaten between WCI & Bluevale. Records can be deceiving, however, and although the Vikes are currently tied for first I think the Knights have the edge here.
Also on Tuesday, GRCI will travel to SJAM in another 3:30pm tilt. At least those were the originally scheduled times in December, not sure if WCSSAA will switch to the traditional "Tuesday = late senior game" schedule.
***Update: thanks to a reader who has confirmed that Senior games will be going "late" at 5pm tomorrow***
Thursday has more 3:30pm action, with Forest Hts. travelling to KCI and another key game between two top-eight programs (GRCI @ SSS)
WCSSAA - Junior
SJAM and Grand River will complete a nice double-header in Waterloo; two solid clubs that are battling for those 2 CWOSSA "AAAA" berths.
Meanwhile, on Thursday the upstart Huron Heights Huskies will put their unbeaten record on the line against the Cameron Heights Gaels.
D10 - Senior
The only match-up between two top-four clubs goes Tuesday between 3rd place Ross and 2nd place St. James (4:00pm @ Ross).
D10 - Junior
3rd place St. James has a tough week ahead ---- they play 4th place Ross today at Ross and then travel across town to battle the 2nd-place Lourdes Crusaders on Thursday.
