cwossabasketball.com's D10 & D8 Players of the Week

D10 Senior: Adrian Varilla (Centennial)
The veteran Varilla (5th year) was named as the MVP of the East Side Mario's tournament hosted by Centennial CVI.

In two big league games against rival JF Ross and Lourdes, Varilla helped the Spartans remain undefeated by chipping in 18 and 17 points respectively.

D10 Junior: Alex Quintieri (Bishop Macdonell)
Along with a solid performance in the junior Rimrocker, Quinteiri led the Celtics in scoring in both league games this week --- 19 in a 59-53 victory over St. James, and 18 points in yesterday's 74-58 victory over JF Ross.

D8 Senior: Josh Loehle (Monsingor Doyle)
Loehle nearly helped his understaffed Mustangs upend the Resurrection Phoenix this week, scoring 23 points in the 66-58 loss. The Stangs had just 7 players dressed for the game.

To my knowledge (historians please help me out), Monsignor Doyle has never beaten Resurrection in senior boys play. With Loehle and some other solid talent, Doyle has proven to be a tough out for the rest of the teams in the D8 league.

D8 Junior: Adam Schneider (Resurrection)
Schneider hit three free-throws with :04 left in regulation to lift the RCSS Phoenix to a 43-42 win over Stratford Central in the second round of the Purple & Gold tournament this weekend.

Unfortunately, he injured his foot during the game and missed the remaining games of the tournament. He returned to action on Monday against St. David and scored double figures in the RCSS win.
