Around The Horn: Monday

A few "rescheduled games" from various leagues on Monday; we'll do a quick recap here....

WCSSAA Junior
No surprises in the three games on Monday, as three of my ranked CWOSSA teams picked up victories.

The SJAM Highlanders defeated Jacob Hespeler, 55-36, with Justin Hardy (17) and Devon Gallivan (9) leading the way.  Eric Purdy netted 14 in the loss for the Hawks.

WCI took out Southwood by a 53-25 final, thanks to 21 points from Aaron Grubb and 16 more by Griffin Floto.  Connor Hall led the Sabres with 10.

The other contest saw Bluevale ease past Elmira in a 47-20 contest.  Greg Smith (12) and Will Scheffler (11) provided double-digit efforts for the Knights, while Ryan Bauman led the way for Elmira with 6.

D8 Junior
One game in the "B" division on Monday saw Monsignor Doyle get revenge for a loss earlier in the year against Rockway, topping the Flames in a 46-36 game.

Carter Mackay had 17 and Jordan Deveney-Reid 15 for MDCSS; Jesse Reusser (13) and Matt Kipfer (11) topped the Rockway scoring.

D8 Midget
The first "mini-tournament" of the year took place at St. Mary's HS in Kitchener yesterday.

The PRDG Chevaliers, thanks to 27 points from Patrick Martini, knocked off the St. Mary's Eagles in a 38-36 game.  Sydney Langford had 6 for St. Mary's.

St. Mary's rebounded to take their second game, 43-32 over Resurrection.  Solomon Havtgabreau had 13 for Rez in that one (full names of the SMHS scorers weren't immediately made available).

All three teams ended up at 1-1 after the opening day, as Rez topped PRDG 36-19.  Jamu Iluya topped the Resurrection scoresheet with 8 points.
