WCSSAA Junior: Gaels Win Battle Of Top-10 Teams

In a battle between two "top 10" CWOSSA teams yesterday afternoon, the Cameron Heights Golden Gaels topped the Grand River Renegades 56-43, further "logjamming" the top half of the WCSSAA standings as both teams now have two losses on the season.

Raghu Podipireddy had 14 points and Landon Peng added 11 for Cameron, while Jake Zuzan had a game-high 20 points for the Renegades.

In other action yesterday:

SJAM 47, Eastwood 34
The Highlanders rebounded from a slow start (18-17 halftime lead) to take care of business at Eastwood and remain as WCSSAA's lone undefeated team.  Justin Hardy (11) paced three 'Landers in double figures (Amarbir Bansal & Devon Gallivan had 10 each), while Ahmed Kanu and Hanani Ujullu had 8 each for the Rebels.

Bluevale 56, Forest Hts. 23
The Knights had no trouble with the Trojans on Thursday, backed by 13 from Greg Smith and 10 by Will Scheffler.  Riley Anderson had 5 to lead Forest Heights.

WCI 59, Huron Heights 48
This was WCI's first of two games yesterday (they also played in the Rimrocker tournament in Brampton yesterday evening).  Aaron Grubb had 17 and Griffin Floto 14 to lead WCI to the win here, while HHSS received 14 from Ben Jenkins and 11 by Maiwand Faqiri.

Jacob Hespeler 37, KCI 34
It was the 3-3 Hawks knocking off the 5-1 Raiders at KCI on Thursday, with Mytch Brush scoring 12 to lead the Hespeler attack.  Sam McLean netted 13 for the Raiders.

Preston 55, Galt 47
Mitchell Devonish scored 15 and Jaskaran Attwal added 13 as the Panthers moved above .500 with the win.  Hayden Merkir had 13 to pace the Ghosts.

Glenview Park 50, Elmira 21
Huzaifa Hassan (13) and Peter Hastings-Clarke (11) helped to keep Glenview in the thick of the playoff chase with a big win over Elmira.

Southwood 45, WODSS 35
Connor Hall pumped home 15 points and Colin Ashton added 10 more for the Southwood Sabres in their third win of the season.  Full scoring details for WODSS were unavailable from source.
