YTD: 19-1 (.950)
Nothing to report from yesterday with the cancellations throughout the CWOSSA region, so today's D8 games will be the first ones of the new year.
Of note, the "tiered" league structure is now in effect with the top four teams in the junior & senior leagues forming the "A" division, and the remaining three making up the "B" circuit.
In junior, it looks as follows:
"A": St. Mary's, Resurrection, St. Benedict, St. David
"B": Rockway, Monsignor Doyle, Woodland
And on the senior side:
"A": St. Mary's, Resurrection, Monsignor Doyle, St. Benedict
"B": St. David, Rockway, Woodland
Today's games will feature two "A" division games, and one from the "B" division:
St. Mary's (6-0) at St. Benedict (3-3)
My Pick: SMHS by 38
The St. Mary's Eagles, the class of the D8 senior league to this point, should continue their winning ways on the road today. The real entertainment will be in the junior conclusion of the junior-senior doubleheader (two "top 3" CWOSSA teams), so stick around for that.
Mons. Doyle (4-2) at Resurrection (5-1)
My Pick: RCSS by 18
The Phoenix can't take the up-and-coming Mustangs lightly, but they are still the favourites in this 3:30pm home tilt.
Rockway (1-5) at St. David (2-4)
My Pick: SDCSS by 27
The Celtics are the "odd man out" in the senior standings, relegated to the "B" division after a loss to St. Benedict before the break. I don't see them losing either of their two divisional games, starting with this one here today.
