The D'Youville Panthers took home the title this past weekend at the 26th Annual "Saints Invitational", hosted by St. Benedict CSS.
In the championship game, D'Youville defeated St. Patrick's (Sarnia) by a 65-45 final.
Earlier on Saturday, the last remaining CWOSSA team, JF Ross, was eliminated by D'Youville in the semifinals (66-44). The Royals knocked off Kitchener Grand River in the quarterfinals (66-61).
Other CWOSSA teams in the quarterfinals included Kitchener Eastwood (L 66-43 to Windsor Catholic Central) and Guelph St. James (L 55-52 to St. Pat's).
On the consolation side of the draw, Galt Collegiate took home the consolation title with a hard-fought 55-48 win over Turner Fenton (Brampton). Earlier on Saturday, the Ghosts knocked off Bishop Reding of Milton (66-63) in the semifinals after besting Timmins CVI 53-37 in the consolation quarterfinals.
Kitchener Forest Heights, who defeated St. Benedict (52-49) in the consolation quarterfinals, was eliminated by Turner Fenton in the consolation semifinals (55-42).
Junior
In the 2nd year of the junior tournament, the St. Benedict Saints took home the title, winning all four games in the tournament by double-digit margins.
After besting Guelph Bishop Macdonell (54-29) and Peterborough Adam Scott (57-21) on Friday, the Saints topped Kingston Frontenac (51-31) in the semifinals followed by a championship win over Windsor Catholic Central (46-36).
Bishop Macdonell was the winner on the consolation side of the bracket, knocking off Timmins CVI (48-33) in the final. The Celtics topped Galt CI (56-26) in one consolation semifinal, while the other consolation semi saw Timmins topple Southwood (35-30).
