After being throttled by the Cameron Heights Golden Gaels during league play last month, the SJAM Highlanders exacted a bit of revenge over the weekend, taking the title game at the Highlander Classic by a 66-40 final score.
Simon Petrov scored 19 for SJAM in the win, while Nikola Farkic led the Gaels -- and all scorers -- with a 21-point effort.
Earlier on Saturday, SJAM defeated Brantford Assumption 63-53 in one semifinal, with both Petrov and Nedim Hodzic contributing 16 points each. Andre Toic netted 24 for the Lions in the loss.
The other semifinal saw Cameron Heights knock off Guelph Centennial, 59-38.
First-round games on Friday were SJAM 60, Orangeville DSS 46 (Nedim Hodzic - 23 for SJAM); Assumption 64, KCI 44 (Mike King - 24 for ACS); Centennial 58, FE Madill 47 (Harnoor Samra - 26 for CCVI); and Cameron Heights 62, London Clarke Road 51.
Tournament all-stars were Quinn Turner & Brett Parrott (SJAM); Jackie Do & Nikola Farkic (CHCI); and Andre Toic from Assumption.
