CWOSSA "A": West Stars as Walkerton Takes Title

The Walkerton Riverhawks are your "A" CWOSSA Senior Boys' champions thanks in large part to star guard JD West.

West, who will play at Laurentian University (CIS) in Sudbury next season, pumped home 39 points in the championship final, a 57-46 win for Walkerton over Waterford DHS.

He also netted 25 in the semifinal, a 72-46 victory over Kitchener Rockway.  Keenan Soers added 23 for the Riverhawks in that one, while Michael Born led the way for the Flames with 20.

Waterford advanced to the senior championship final with a 54-40 win over Georgian Bay.  Justin Nadrofsky had 17 for WDHS, while Jed Phillips scored a game-high 19 for Georgian Bay.

Walkerton advances to the OFSAA "A" championship, which will take place in Timmins in early March.

Junior
Waterford DHS took home the junior CWOSSA title following a 54-48 victory over Kitchener Rockway.

Logan Donaldson put home 26 points in the win for Waterford, while Ian Regier scored 25 for Rockway.

Both teams had earlier posted comfortable semifinal wins to advance to the championship final.

Jesse Reusser scored 13 for Rockway in their 53-32 win over host Walkerton DCS.  Aaron Gebhardt was the leading scorer for Walkerton, with an 8-point effort.

Waterford received 24 from Donaldson in their semifinal win, a 47-29 victory over Georgian Bay.  Adam Dennison was the high man for GBSS with 10.
