It's Semifinal Wednesday in the D10 junior and senior leagues today, with what appear to be a couple of (potentially) very competitive senior semifinals.
Here's a look at those, and then the junior action as well:
(4) St. James at (1) JF Ross
RS: JFR 2-0 (45-44, 42-40)
My Pick: JFR by 8
The Royals swept the Lions in the regular season --- by a combined 3 points. That should give the Lions some confidence heading into this one, although I can't go against a JF Ross team that has been playing very well as of late.
(3) Lourdes at (2) Bishop Mac
RS: OLOL 2-0 (58-57, 71-68 2OT)
My Pick: BMAC by 4
A series sweep by 4 points, including a double OT thriller just the other week is all that separated these clubs during the regular season. I'm banking on the playoff experience of the Celtics (several of whom were on the OFSAA bronze medalist team last year) and home advantage to get them a win in what should be a thriller.
Junior D10
(5) Lourdes at (1) JF Ross
RS: JFR 2-0 (49-39, 58-48)
My Pick: JFR by 7
Two teams that have been playing pretty well down the stretch of the D10 season; I expect JF Ross to come through at home but wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit closer than their regular season encounters.
(3) Centennial at (2) St. James
RS: STJ 2-0 (67-52, 61-50)
My Pick: STJ by 8
Another game that I could certainly see being closer than their regular season meetings, but Alex Durigon, Quinn Feeney and Nick Marquis are playing some nice basketball right now so I'll go with them at home here today.
