Junior: Luke Santi Tournament Final - Jean Vanier (RH) 64, Resurrection 61

Santi All-Stars from Vanier & Rez
In the championship final of the Luke Santi tournament, the Resurrection Phoenix gave the GTA #2 ranked team, the Jean Vanier Jaguars of Richmond Hill, all they could handle before falling by a 64-61 final on Saturday evening at Rez.

The Jaguars were the champions of last weekend's All-Ontario Catholic tournament in Hamilton, beating St. Mike's (Toronto) 65-53 in the championship final.

The Phoenix took an 18-13 lead after the opening quarter, and extended that to 33-23 at halftime.  In the third quarter, however, the Jaguars -- keyed by their talented duo of Kascius Small-Martin & Dean Andrade -- started to heat up.

The Jags outscored Rez 21-11 in the third to have things tied up heading into the final quarter, where both teams would trade blows, only to see the other club respond.

With the Phoenix trailing 58-56 and 1:30 to go, a Prince Dang three-pointer gave Resurrection a 59-58 lead --- although it was short-lived as the Jaguars would have Behrad Raisi knock home a three-pointer on the other end to re-establish a lead that they would not relinquish.

Small-Martin, who was named tournament MVP, had 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Andrade added 16 points and Cyril Ardena was also in double-figures with 11.

Ali Rashid led the Phoenix with 20 points, while Muyang Iluya had 12 points and 9 rebounds with Joe Hunter also in double-figures with 10.

The tournament title was the first for the Jaguars, who have made 2 other appearances at the Luke Santi tournament, including a 49-48 loss in a thriller to Oakville Holy Trinity in the 2012 championship game.

Named to the tournament all-star team were:
