D8: Quarterfinal Previews/Picks

Today's quarterfinal games are scheduled as follows:

Senior
(A3) Resurrection vs. (B2) Woodland
RS:  Resurrection 73, Woodland 20
The Phoenix are big favourites in this one, as evidenced by their regular-season score.  That said, the Cavs are improving and did defeat MDCSS in their finale.  Still, too much of a talent gap for the Single-A school to overcome.  I'll take Rez by 38 here.

(A4) St. David vs. (B1) Monsignor Doyle
RS:  Mons. Doyle 41, St. David 29
Without question, the game of the day here.  Not only did the team that ended up in "B" Division, Monsignor Doyle, win their previous meeting, but the team that wins this game will advance to "AAA" CWOSSA (play-in game).  I think it will be a close one, but I have to go with the home team here, in a close one.  St. David by 3.

Junior
(A3) St. Benedict vs. (B2) Rockway
RS:  St. Benedict 56, Rockway 32
The Flames have shown the ability to put up some points (even having multiple 20+ scorers in the same game), so the Saints can't take them lightly.  Assuming they don't, SBCSS by 21.

(A4) Resurrection vs. (B1) PRDG
RS:  Resurrection 67, PRDG 46
Rez will need to contain Pat Martini, as every team does that faces PRDG.  He actually averaged 26.5 PPG for the season, which I'm certain is a D8 record.  He may keep them in it for a bit, but I expect the Phoenix to be ahead at the end.  Rez by 22.
