Nolan Krisko and his Simcoe Sabres teammates made sure there wasn’t a repeat of last year.
The Sabres scored early and often, en route to an easy 38-14 win over the Waterford Wolves Tuesday.
The win earns the Sabres a date with the Holy Trinity Titans Friday for
the Norfolk Secondary School Athletic Association junior boys basketball
championship.
“Even though there are only a couple of us from last year, it was in our
minds,” Krisko said of his team’s semifinal upset loss to the Wolves
last year. “We’ve had a good year going undefeated and we wanted to make
sure we got to the finals. We’re excited about it.
“We just have to keep working hard like we have all year.”
The Titans earned their spot in the final with a 40-12 win over the Delhi Raiders.
“It’s great for the kids to get another shot at it,” Titans coach Tyler
Backus said. “We started slow today but they really played hard.”
Friday’s championship game takes place at Simcoe Composite School at 6 p.m.
