All four "A" Division clubs advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday afternoon in D8 Quarterfinal play.
On the senior side, a game that I expected to be fairly tight wasn't necessarily such as the St. David Celtics cruised to a 54-34 win over the Monsignor Doyle Mustangs.
The Celts had 3 players in double-figures --- Alec Scheffler (12), Mitchell Lavigne (11) and Ryan Mohaupt (11). Ryan Stafford and Jordan Deveney-Reid had 11 each for the 'Stangs.
The win also secured St. David a berth in an AAA CWOSSA play-in game, where they will take on the D4 representative (Westside SS).
Meanwhile, at Resurrection, Korbil Gany's 14-point third quarter helped the Phoenix overcome a slow start (28-20 at halftime) to defeat Woodland Christian 70-40. Gany led the Phoenix with 16 total points, while Zach Holness had 11 and Muyang Iluya 10.
Shane Clarke had 14 for the Cavs, with Brendan Vandergeest adding 7. Woodland will be D8's representative at "A" CWOSSA.

The #3 seed in the D8 playoffs, the St. Benedict Saints, had their hands full with the Rockway Flames, but got the win in a low-scoring 35-29 affair.
Jake Polski (SBCSS) and Tim Falco (RMC) had 8 points each for their respective clubs.
In the other game, #4 Resurrection put up 49 points in the first half en route to a 79-49 win over #5 PRDG. Jamu Iluya led the way with 22, while Igor Edelinski chipped in with 10.
Pat Martini had 23 for PRDG (actually under his season D8 average --- 26.5 PPG), and Pascal Brisson added 16.
PRDG will be D8's "A" representative at CWOSSA.
